Equip Human Solutions and CVS Health® Work to Expand pharmacy Technician Training and Strengthen the Health Care Workforce

New Career Skills Lab in San Diego creates direct pathway into pharmacy and health care careers.

San Diego, California – Equip Human Solutions and CVS Health have collaborated to launch a Pharmacy Technician Training Program designed to expand workforce pathways into pharmacy and health care careers. The program will be delivered at the new Career Skills Lab in downtown San Diego. The CVS Health Career Skills Lab is located inside Equip Resource Solutions, a 501 (c)3 non-profit learning lab and life enrichment centers supported by Equip Human Solutions and Western Medical Training Center.

This collaboration reflects a growing national effort to build stronger health care workforce pipelines while improving access to training opportunities for individuals seeking stable, meaningful careers in health care.

The Pharmacy Technician Training Program is designed to provide participants with a supportive, simulated learning experience that prepares them for entry into pharmacy services and related health care fields. The program combines technical instruction with career readiness support to ensure students can successfully complete training and transition into employment.

“Our training collaboration with organizations such as CVS Healthdirectly strengthens the hospice and home health workforce pipeline by expanding access to training for certified nursing assistants (CNAs) and pharmacy technicians, who form the entry point into direct hospice and palliative care careers while also supporting ancillary services,” said Damien Weston, Chief Engagement Officer for Equip Human Solutions. “Many of our students advance into home health, hospice and related fields, helping to meet the pressing national need for skilled caregivers.”

Based on similar programs that CVS Healthhas supported in other areas across the country. The training program combines classroom-based instruction, simulated practice in the CSL and live experiences in an active pharmacy environment. This model provides real-world exposure to pharmacy operations and direct connections to employers, helping bridge the gap between training and employment while reinforcing CVS Health’s commitment to community workforce development and expanded access to health care careers.

National attention continues to grow around innovative workforce solutions that address shortages in caregiving and health care support roles. Reporting by Hospice News highlights how new training models and clinical learning environments are helping prepare the next generation of health care professionals and strengthening care delivery systems. The article, New Student-Led Medical Clinics Aim to Innovate End-of-Life Care Delivery, discusses the importance of workforce initiatives that expand access to healthcare education and practical training.

To celebrate the relationship and the launch of the Career Skills Lab, Equip Human Solutions will host a Ribbon Cutting and Graduation event Saturday, June 6th from 10 AM to 3 PM in downtown San Diego. The event will officially open the new training facility and introduce community leaders, health care partners, and workforce organizations to the program.

Through strategic collaborations with health care employers such as CVS Health, Equip Human Solutions continues to expand career pathways that help individuals build sustainable futures while supporting the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals.
