Our EKG program is 84 hours. The first portion of the course gives the student 80 hours of theory online. This part of the class will contain most of the program’s curriculum. The second portion of the class is a 4-hour on-campus lab. This will be led by an instructor who will provide support while students get to practice with an EKG machine. Once a student has completed both portions of the program, they will be eligible to sit for the NCCT exam which is held on Western Medical Training Center’s campus.
You’ll be the first to receive updates on lab dates, enrollment steps, and availability!

An EKG (electrocardiogram) technician is responsible for conducting diagnostic tests to monitor the electrical activity of patients’ hearts. Their duties include preparing patients for the procedure, applying electrodes to specific locations on the patient’s body, operating electrocardiograph machines to record heart activity, performing various types of EKG tests, and ensuring the accuracy and clarity of recorded data. While they do not interpret EKG results themselves, EKG technicians assist healthcare providers by organizing test results and maintaining accurate records for review. They prioritize patient safety throughout the testing process and play a crucial role in assisting healthcare professionals in diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions. EKG technicians’ attention to detail, technical skills, and patient-centered care contribute to the delivery of quality cardiac care in healthcare settings.
EKG (electrocardiogram) technicians have a range of employment opportunities across various healthcare settings where cardiac monitoring and diagnostic testing are conducted. Commonly, they work in hospitals, clinics, and medical offices, where they perform electrocardiogram tests on patients during routine visits, preoperative assessments, or diagnostic evaluations. Additionally, EKG techs may find employment in diagnostic imaging centers, ambulatory care centers, long-term care facilities, and home healthcare agencies, providing electrocardiogram testing services to patients in different healthcare settings. Some may also work in research institutions, assisting with cardiac research studies or clinical trials involving electrocardiogram testing. Regardless of the setting, EKG technicians play a crucial role in assisting healthcare providers in diagnosing and monitoring heart conditions, contributing to the delivery of quality cardiac care.
