Terms of Use for Gift Cards (USA Federal Law)
Gift cards cannot expire within five years of purchase, and inactivity fees can only be charged if the card has been unused for at least 12 months, with clear disclosure to the cardholder. Lost or stolen cards may be replaced with proof of purchase, and gift cards are not redeemable for cash unless required by state law. Cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards. These terms comply with the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act of 2009. Gift cards are for personal, non-commercial use, and misuse or fraudulent activity may result in forfeiture. These terms are governed by U.S. federal laws.

Under California Civil Code § 1749.5, gift cards cannot expire, and no inactivity or maintenance fees are allowed. Cards with a remaining balance of $10 or less are redeemable for cash upon request. Replacement for lost or stolen cards is available with proof of purchase, and gift cards cannot be used to buy other gift cards.
