Clinical Medical Assistant

Cost: $2500
Length: 4 Months
Form: Hybrid

Program Description

Our Clinical Medical Assistant Program is a hybrid program split up into four components that take approximately 4 months to complete. The online virtual and hands-on in-person lab training period is just fourteen weeks. During this period, students are required to be in class twice per week. The first class session each week consists of a four-hour online theory, and the second weekly session is an in-person hands-on lab learning on campus. Students receive online instructor-guided support throughout their studies.  Once their fourteen-week studies are complete, students will then have the opportunity to complete an externship of 120 hours of non-paid hands-on clinic experience.  We support our students in procuring their community externship location.  In addition, we support the student with resume building, interview skills, and more.  With our curriculum, once a student completes all four components and their externship, they are then eligible to sit for the NHA National certification exam for both Medical Assistant and Medical Office Assistant.

WMTC is partnered with NHA Medical Assistant Certification | CCMA.  The curriculum, online experience, and certification support are provided by one of the nation’s leading accrediting institutions.  The online and in-person experience equips our students for success in the medical field!

What is a CMA?

A Clinical Medical Assistant (CMA) is a healthcare professional who has earned certification through a recognized organization, demonstrating their competence and knowledge in medical assisting. CMAs perform a range of tasks to support healthcare providers and ensure smooth operations in medical settings. Their responsibilities typically include taking patient histories, measuring vital signs, assisting with exams, performing basic lab tests, administering medications, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, billing and coding for insurance purposes, handling correspondence, providing patient education, answering questions, and offering support throughout their care journey.

Where can I work?

Clinical Medical Assistants (CMAs) have a range of employment opportunities across various healthcare settings. Clinical Medical Assistants, both administrative and clinical, can work in primary care offices, specialty clinics, hospitals, urgent care centers, community health centers, long-term care facilities, insurance companies, educational institutions, research institutions, and more. In all these settings, Medical Assistants provide critical support whether they are completing routine check-ups, assisting with specialized exams, completing medical billing, or handling patient intake.
